Pair of Links
I had a bunch of browser tabs open (in the queue!) for a while and finally got around to reading them. Most of the tabs were of essays to look at and forget about, but a couple were more interesting.
One link is the following video clip. I came across the video at Scanners (and there’s a decent conversation about the clip in the comments) on April 12th — which shows you just how long it’s been in the queue. I like the general idea of the clip, that you can believe something based on evidence and remain open-minded. It’s simple, it generalizes discussion points, and there’s room for debate around the video, but I think it’s a good message in the proper context.
The other link is much more recent (June 26th!) and is a response to the idea that non-theists promoting non-theism are behaving religiously in nature. Here’s a snippet from the article:
The sentiment gets worded in many different ways. “The new atheists are so evangelical.” “This atheist criticism of religion is just intolerant.” “You atheists are just as close-minded as the hard-line religious believers you’re criticizing.”

How is your camera, Bobby? Are you still shooting? Still trying something new every week?

2I love my camera. But it doesn’t love me. It says I show it no love. It feels neglected and ignored.
3Twisted!
