Spore in Real Life
(today’s post: 244 words)
When I’m not considering my own mortality, I often like to think about the size and scope of the universe. It’s fun to take a walk outside and stare up at a clear night sky and imagine the possibilities of everything that could be lurking out there.
Our world, like our life, is such a tiny blip when compared with the entirety of everything else.
And I think how little we know of the universe, now, is why death bothers me. It’s like getting a book and being excited that it’ll be a great book - but only getting to read one paragraph. I want to read every last word. Twice.
On one hand, I think this overwhelming curiosity about life and the universe is why I’m so drawn to Spore. On the other hand, I’m finding that though I love and feel borderline addicted to Spore, the Space stage - where you actually get to explore the entirety of the Milky Way (I go so lost exploring the universe that I thought I would be unable to ever return home. And that was an awesome/overwhelming feeling.) is a bit of a let down.
Every solar system/planet looks unique but there’s not much to do. I hope real life is more exciting. And I hope I get to enjoy at least some of the discoveries. There are apparently 37, 964 civilizations in our galaxy. It’s time to get out there and start saying hi.
