I Promise Not Every Post Will be a Rant

(today’s post: 250 words)

Since last season I’ve been streaming the NFL’s broadcast of Redskins’ games via a peer-to-peer set up, and it more or less works.

Occasionally it fails badly (like today).

Watching in this manner is not ideal, but it sure as Hell beats sitting at a crowded sports bar enduring waitresses who are pissed off that you are only there to watch the game, and it sure as Hell beats spending $300 for Sunday Ticket – paying for movie channels and every NFL game when I really only want to watch one team (the Redskins).

ESPN, the NFL, and NBC have figured out how to broadcast NFL games over the Internet. I know this because I watched the last couple of Sunday Night Football games from the comfort of my own laptop. And to those who ask why I’d want to watch on a laptop, the obvious answer is because the cyber-stream allows you to select the camera. Also, there are no commercials. And there are no annoying broadcasters.

Awesome!

If ESPN, the NFL, and NBC can figure out how to broadcast an NFL game to millions of viewers – for free – you’d think they’d be willing to similarly stream all the NFL games for, say, $5 a game. What football-loving fan wouldn’t be willing to spend $5 bucks every week to watch their favorite team when it’s not on TV? Or is this some kind of conflict of interest with Sunday Ticket?

Any better ideas? I hate missing the ‘Skins.

  1. Stop watching football? :P

    KIDDING!!!

I’m sorry your program was messed up today. But you know I’ll go to the stupid, awful sports bar with you if that’s what you have to resort to next time.
I’ll scare away the bitchy waitresses with my evil glare ;)

Oh, and who cares if every post is a rant? Rants are fun to read :)
I’d rather read your rants than 99.8% of all the other blogs on the net.
