BioBought

October 16, 2007 By: bobisimo Category: All Posts, Late-Night Musings

In case you didn’t hear it already, BioWare and Pandemic were bought once more - this time by Electronic Arts. The man behind the plan, John Riccitiello, is the same guy that had left Electronic Arts to help run (with some others) the investment group (Elevation) that bought the two companies. I guess he couldn’t stand to be apart from them. :) Either that, or the money his new company paid his old company (he collects $5 million from the deal) made it worthwhile.

The BioWare forums are flooded with concerns - due in large part to EA’s history of corrupting good developers. I’m of the opinion that BioWare is too headstrong to let anything bad happen to them, but I guess time will tell. Besides, I may even get some money out of this. :p

Also in Bio-related news, I sent a private message to a guy confirming to the community that there were no, as of my experience with the company through June, homosexual romances in Mass Effect. (Well, there is no male-male romance, and, technically speaking, no female-female romance. There is a male/female-hermaphroditic-ish relationship.) Not too long after, a couple friends told me that they saw my quote picked up by a few fan sites, like GameBanshee and VE3D. Kind of neat how that works. Like… some kind of google machine. Scanners trolling the internet for news to re-post. Ya know, these sites could just ask me. Like, they say on there “Bob left BioWare? What happened?” Ask me. It’s not like I’d say no. Hahaha. Oh, and they can also offer me a job if they want. I’m not expensive. ;)
One of the more amusing responses to my post, from my point of view, is the assertion that I’m foolishly supporting a political candidate because of one bullet point on the ol’ platform - that Gravel is pro-equality for homosexuals. I thought I made it clear that it was one of the reasons (an important one, but still just one). I’ve already summarized my views on Gravel, but if anyone wants to ask more here - drop me a comment. :)
As for homosexuality, I blame religion for the oppression. That may sound harsh, but when religions are referring to homosexuality as a disease and an abomination in God’s eyes, and reciting phrases like “love the sinner, but hate the sin” - it all just makes me a little angry. Love the religious, but hate the religions - at least, the ones that preach intolerance. The world has more than enough problems without organized groups adding to the mix. :p I really don’t understand how people could get behind this or think an all-loving God would promote that. Is it really so hurtful for two people to fall in love?

I keep remembering that I never posted anything about my Tennessee trip from August. I’ll try to get to that next post. :)
